RefineMyDraft started with two tools: reviewing essays paragraph by paragraph, and reshaping any document to an exact word count. Over the last few weeks it has grown into a full writing and application studio. There are now eight tools under one roof, and three of them are free. This post walks through what each one does and what changed in the writing review itself.

Eight tools, one studio

The idea is simple. If you are writing, we help you improve it. If you are applying, we help you prepare for it. If you are just trying to sound less like an AI and more like yourself, we help with that too. One account, one credit system, one place to work.

The full line-up is the Writing Review, WordShaper, the Personal Statement generator, the Cover Letter generator, the Citation generator, and three free AI tools: the AI Detector, the Summarizer and the Paraphraser.

New tools for your applications

The Personal Statement generator turns your CV and a job description into a tailored statement written to your exact target length. Choose a purpose (job, university, visa or other), and the statement follows it. Every generation comes with free CV advice and five STAR-method interview questions, and nothing is invented: every claim has to be traceable to your CV, so the statement survives the questions it invites.

The Cover Letter generator works on the same discipline. Paste your CV and the job description, choose a tone and a purpose, and get a letter between 150 and 450 words written to your target length, with a free summary, specific CV advice and likely interview questions alongside it. The letter downloads as a .docx with those extras clearly marked so you can delete them before submitting.

The Citation generator formats references in 32 source types across 13 styles, including APA 7, MLA 9, Harvard, Chicago and Vancouver. The basic formatter is free and needs no account. For messier material, the dashboard's AI clean-up mode reads a pasted reference list, extracts the details, and reformats them consistently. The AI does the reading; the code does the formatting.

Three free AI helpers

You can try RefineMyDraft before you sign up. The AI Detector gives an indicative 0-100 score for how AI-sounding your text is, paragraph by paragraph. The Summarizer condenses anything to a target length with key points. The Paraphraser rewrites in your voice, keeping the meaning and the length.

All three are free on the public pages at 100 words a day per tool, and signed-in users get a one-time 100 free words per tool inside the dashboard, so you can try them properly before spending any credits.

The review experience got smarter

The core Writing Review still returns paragraph-level feedback with tracked changes and comments, but it now does more. It preserves your voice, keeping your phrasing and rhythm instead of flattening everything into a house style. It protects your contact details: names, addresses, phone numbers and emails are never rewritten. And if you give it a target role and job description, the review focuses on that role, reading your CV with a recruiter's eye and rewording your evidence for impact.

WordShaper lives in the same dashboard now. Reshape a document to a target word count, up or down, while your formatting, tables and images stay exactly where they are.

A calmer, clearer dashboard

Every tool now has its own themed workspace, so it is obvious where you are the moment you open a page. Messages appear as tidy, auto-dismissing pop-ups instead of red lines, dropdowns are readable in dark mode, and every required field tells you what is needed before you submit. Subscription information is clearer too, so you always know how many credits you have left and what you are paying for.

Try them

Every account starts with a free 30-day trial and 4,000 credits a month, and top-ups are available whenever you need more. You can run a whole application through the suite, from a rough essay to a tailored statement or cover letter, before deciding whether to subscribe.

New to application writing? Start with our guides on personal statements that get noticed and cover letters that actually get read. And if you want to understand the tools behind this release, the cover letter and citation announcement goes deeper on both.
